Ryan Patrick Burns recounts a 1990s encounter near the ranch while working as a fly fishing guide. He describes picking up a hitchhiker who appeared to be a Navajo elder but felt like a "mind drape" or a digital hack of his consciousness. He was later found catatonic by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, who suggested the encounter involved a skinwalker.

The Uintah Basin's history is explored through a lens of conflicting curses involving the Ute tribe, Navajo people, and Buffalo Soldiers practicing voodoo. Burns also notes physical factors that may contribute to the activity, such as porous sandstone, seeping water from Bottle Hollow Reservoir, and high electromagnetic frequencies from aging power lines.
