Robert Frederick | Sir Francis Bacon, The Shakespeare Project, & The Power Of Propaganda
New Atlantis, The Rise of Scientism
Francis Bacon's "New Atlantis" is characterized as a blueprint for a scientific technocracy rather than a benevolent utopia. In the fictional land of Bensalem, a secretive elite of scientists wields more power than the king, deciding which "miracles" to reveal to the public and which to fake. This vision is presented as the origin of modern scientism, where data and technology are used by a "priest class" to manage and control society.
