Topic: Bavarian Illuminati

The Illuminatus Trilogy, co-authored by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea, was heavily influenced by Discordian philosophy and the authors' time as editors at Playboy. While working at the Playboy forum, Wilson and Shea received numerous letters about wild conspiracies, which they incorporated into their fiction. The trilogy serves as a primary entry point for many people into the world of Discordianism and the Bavarian Illuminati.

Discordians engaged in "Operation Mindfuck," a series of pranks designed to confuse the public and the power structure through "jakes" or targeted mailings. Members used official-looking stationery from fake organizations like the "Society for Moral Understanding and Training" to send confusing letters to newspaper editors and public figures. These activities were intended to highlight the absurdity of organized belief systems and official authority.
