46 Too kind but it is a real pleasure man you've been a great friend and colleague and we got a lot to catch up on i'm excited to see where this goes but let's kick off with the obvious first question as to what this new book is about why this topic what's the elevator pitch for why evil matters. I mean it's in surly when i say i really couldn't have done better than you did because you captured the subtlety of that i gotta say eighty percent people miss rate at the beginning to come right out of the gate is this what about this and your not cut, this isn't a book about what is evil or what you know with this more evil than something else is it more evil too drone strike.
32 a wedding party in Yemen versus the evil pandemic, it's a question of why looking through that lens might be unnecessary first step. And just as you perfectly said, why aren't we doing that? Because as you alluded to, we used to be kind of more tuned into asking the initial question of should we be investigating evil yeah it is an absolutely great topic to tackle and i agree just seems like especially in the last year,
12 the conversations i've been trying to have with people are look i'm convinced the guest is usually convinced the audience's convinced but we need to increase our numbers in terms of people who think there might be something fishy going on here and when you reverse engineer that all the way down. To the beginning it's like the issue, is that many of our friends and family don't think that people in positions of power could have anything but good intentions And so they aren't even putting evil or nefariousness on the radar. And if you can't do that, you'll never wake up to what's really going on out there. That is perfectly put and I don't think I realized that when I started this project down the evil path but it really did become clear in the last year with the pandemic because its very very subtle what your saying and its this divide between science
08 who we just kind of go along with the idea that they don't have any steak in the evil game to begin with because they don't believe it could possibly exist so will just let them march long on their own now if you will does exists. If evil is a part of this overall fabric, especially in this extended fabric of consciousness that we know exists out there. Then why would we give them a pass? Why would be just a priori assume that science doesn't have any stake in that it doesn't... We shouldn't even hold them accountable for analyzing or evaluating whether any of that as at play let alone as you're going next level and saying
55 Could their motives possibly be something that we would characterize as nefarious evil not so good. Yeah it's a question at least worth asking, a lot of the gas i've interviewed they been talking about dumbing us down for years and part of that is making us ignorant of all sorts of things and having this big blind spot for evil, and whether you go to the rockefeller's the rothschild bill gates these people put a lot of money into managing their PR in there reputation.
31 and i don't know that truly all touristic people need to even do that so it's just another red flag but is a great book that weaves through your own thoughts as well as the insights of many of your guests It's something that I've been trying to work on myself, actually. So to read it, it's great to see something in that kind of format and it really explores some interesting ideas but when it comes to the guests that made into the book what do you think surprised you most about their reactions or responses when you'd bring up the notion of evil in these conversations?
