Topic: Winged Humanoids

Lon Strickler discusses the ongoing sightings of winged humanoids in the Chicago area, noting that reports have increased from 40 in 2017 to roughly 160 today. Many recent encounters are concentrated around O'Hare International Airport, involving witnesses such as pilots and air traffic controllers. Strickler addresses the Harbinger Theory associated with the Mothman and expresses skepticism regarding its connection to local tragedies or doom.

A witness report from January 14, 2023, describes a large winged creature encountered while driving west on Route 165 toward Route 159 in Illinois. The witness observed a being with a massive wingspan fly over their car during a rainy morning commute. Lon Strickler notes that this report is consistent with other sightings in the South Chicago and Northwest Indiana regions.

Lon Strickler, author and researcher behind the Phantoms & Monsters blog, joins the program to discuss a surge of cryptid sightings in Chicago. The current concentration of winged humanoid reports is compared to the 1960s Mothman events in Point Pleasant. Strickler’s background in Fortean research and his ongoing investigations into these modern encounters serve as the foundation for the discussion.

The current string of sightings in Chicago actually traces back to three reports in late 2011 near Pulaski Road, where a witness photographed a creature resembling a large sugar glider. In April 2017, a professional woman walking her dog in Oz Park reported a seven-foot-tall black being with wings folded behind its back. The entity featured ruby red eyes and reportedly ascended rapidly into the air after being observed.
