Nazi Occultism, Karl Maria Villigut and the SS Purge
The esoteric wing of the SS was heavily influenced by Karl Maria Villigut, a "rune mage" who claimed to have total ancestral recall. Villigut designed the Totenkopf ring and influenced the purchase of Wewelsburg Castle, but his influence waned as more traditional Nazi factions purged the occultists. Many of these clairvoyants and pagan practitioners, including Rahn, eventually fell out of favor or were sent to concentration camps.
