Radium Girls, Longevity and Botanical Gardens
The story of the "Radium Girls" is reframed as a consequence of licking chemical-laden paint rather than radium exposure itself, noting that one of the women lived to be 107. Historical records from the New York Botanical Gardens show that radium was used to significantly increase plant yields. Colorado is identified as having the world's largest resource of radium, which was historically used in everyday items like soup bowls and drinking glasses.
