These acts serve as constant reminders of the "True North" or the central axis of reality. Whether it is a fire, a totem pole, or a standing stone, the ritual movement mirrors the rotation of the heavens around the pole.

German healer Peter Manz visited a home and claimed his spirit totem was an owl, gesturing to his shoulder where he believed it sat. From the observer's perspective, Manz's hand appeared to be petting a white owl carved at the top of a physical totem pole standing outside the window.
