Topic: St Boniface

The concept of guardian tree spirits is explored, with trees described as "thin places" or antennas connecting the celestial world and the underworld. Elliott points to a historical "playbook" where authorities like Charlemagne and St. Boniface destroyed sacred trees to break the spirit of indigenous populations. This theme is mirrored in modern pop culture, such as the destruction of the Hometree in the film Avatar.
