Suspended Animation and Hydrogen Sulfide Research
Scientific research has demonstrated that carefully monitored amounts of hydrogen sulfide can induce suspended animation in mice, significantly lowering their body temperature and respiration. This suggests that sulfuric odors in paranormal encounters might be used to induce an altered state of consciousness in witnesses. Conversely, trigeminal stimulants like ammonia (smelling salts) could be used to rapidly return a witness to a normal state of wakefulness.
