Heavy Metal Cowboys, Botswana Slum Subculture
Hanrahan describes a potential documentary project about the "Heavy Metal Cowboys" of Botswana who live in slums but dress in elaborate leather gear. These individuals embrace "Afro metal" and bands like Slayer and Megadeth as a positive force in their lives. The subculture serves as a form of empowerment and identity within a region impacted by poverty and civil war.
