Analog reads a lengthy 1902 account of a "Mogul Magnet" or Lodestone Mountain located near the Yukon Delta. The story describes a ship being pulled at 270 knots toward a massive magnetic mountain that disabled its machinery. Upon crashing, the crew discovered two men who had been stranded there for ten years, living in a state of perpetual light provided by the Aurora Borealis near the North Pole.

The Great Lakes region contains several "vortex" areas, including the Lake Michigan Triangle and the Marysburg Vortex, where ship and plane disappearances exceed those of the Bermuda Triangle. Stemke highlights documented magnetic anomalies on navigational charts and the discovery of underwater stone circles. These sites are often associated with UFO sightings, cryptozoological encounters, and equipment failures.
