Topic: Secret Police

The episode concludes with an original song written by the host from the perspective of a cynical cop witnessing a string of "inconvenient" suicides and accidents. The lyrics reflect on the futility of investigating these cases when they involve powerful interests and the "machine" of suppression. Carlwood signs off with a final challenge to the "secret science suppressors."

Gary Lachman explores the history of Soviet parapsychology and psychic research, noting that it was often more integrated into the culture than Western equivalents. He recounts the story of Gleb Bokii, a high-ranking secret police official, and Alexander Barchenko, who attempted to organize an expedition to Tibet to find Shambhala. They hoped to recover "super-science" from ancient monasteries to imbue the Bolshevik Revolution with spiritual values before they eventually fell victim to Stalin's purges.

Excerpts from Anthony Bourdain's final interview reveal his distress over death threats and an encounter with "secret police" following a joke about Donald Trump. Bourdain expressed fear over how his comments were being weaponized by political operatives to link him to attacks on Hillary Clinton. The interviewer's background and the platform "Hidden Forces" are briefly scrutinized for their role in securing this sensitive conversation.
