Dr. Gregory Shushan | Near Death Experience in Indigenous Religion, Afterlife Journeys, & Resurrection
Shamanic Technology and Ritual Replication of Death
Indigenous communities developed specific technologies, such as rhythmic drumming, dancing to exhaustion, and fasting, to replicate the near-death state without physical peril. Dr. Shushan explains that these rituals allow practitioners to access the afterlife realm to obtain supernatural knowledge or healing abilities. These protocols often stem from the original instructions brought back by a prophet or shaman who survived a spontaneous NDE, such as the Native American Ghost Dance.
