Dr. Gregory Shushan | Near Death Experience in Indigenous Religion, Afterlife Journeys, & Resurrection
NDE Movements as Responses to Cultural Crisis
Near-death experiences often catalyze religious revitalization movements during times of intense social, political, or environmental crisis. Dr. Shushan observes that modern NDE conferences and gurus mirror historical patterns where a "Christlike" figure returns from death to resolve collective anxieties about mortality. These movements provide a metaphysical resolution to the fear of global or societal collapse through the symbolism of rebirth.
