Lovecraft's Influence on Modern Ancient Alien Theory
HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos laid the essential groundwork for 20th-century alternative history and ancient astronaut theories. His work directly influenced seminal texts like The Morning of the Magicians and the later success of Erich von Däniken and the History Channel's Ancient Aliens. While often dismissed as a "hack" author in the United States, literary figures like Joyce Carol Oates and various European scholars recognize his role in voicing cosmic fears.
