McIntosh addresses the historical bias that civilization only spread from the south to the north, which previously labeled early Northern Europeans as primitive. He notes a modern resurgence of interest in Nordic themes through films, computer games, and pop music. This cultural shift challenges the "blue-skinned barbarian" stereotypes taught in mid-20th-century schools.

Reports from Iranian officials and the journals of Admiral Richard Byrd suggest encounters with a "Nordic-looking" race of beings living underground. Koltypin identifies these as the "white gods" of myth who retreated to subterranean cities following a catastrophe 34 million years ago. These beings are allegedly in contact with surface governments and may still exert influence over human affairs.
