Moorish Architecture in San Diego, Tampa, and St. Louis
Greg Carlwood highlights specific examples of Moorish architecture in American cities, such as Balboa Park in San Diego and the Tampa Bay Hotel. He notes that these buildings are often attributed to temporary World's Fair construction or eccentric billionaires despite their permanent, high-quality masonry. In St. Louis, the Moolah Temple serves as a prominent example of Middle Eastern styling in the American Midwest.
