THC 97: Guy McPherson | Environmental Degradation, Ocean Acidification, & Collapse
Species Extinction, Feedback Loops and the Clathrate Gun
Guy McPherson asserts that Homo sapiens is terminally ill, citing the extinction of roughly 200 species per day as a precursor to human demise. He identifies 30 self-reinforcing feedback loops that have been triggered, including the "clathrate gun" or methane bomb in the Arctic. The conversation highlights the trade-off humanity has made, sacrificing soil, air, and water quality for industrial conveniences like smartphones.
