White describes the experience of receiving "more information than is required" from the spirit world, a common occurrence in Ayahuasca journeys and scrying. He explains that spirits often provide absurd or useless details—like a clown with a golf club—alongside practical answers. This "redundant complexity" serves as an indication that the practitioner is communicating across languages with an intelligence that views importance differently than humans.

There is a distinct difference between the "machine elf" realm accessed via smoked DMT and the specific spirit of Mother Ayahuasca encountered in traditional jungle ceremonies. While DMT offers a sudden punch into a mechanical-looking dimension, Ayahuasca provides a relational experience with a cosmic healing intelligence. Traditional settings and icaros (songs) are essential for connecting with the plant as a personified spirit.
