In December 1940, Reich wrote to Albert Einstein regarding his discovery of a biological energy that could be measured and concentrated. The two met in Princeton on January 31, 1941, where Reich demonstrated a glowing blue energy and the temperature differential in his apparatus. Einstein initially acknowledged the findings but noted they violated the second law of thermodynamics, which states equal volumes should equalize in temperature.

Peter Robbins suggests that Einstein's secretary, Helen Dukas, may have influenced the scientist's dismissal of Reich due to her alleged ties to Soviet intelligence. The FBI monitored Dukas and Einstein, suspecting her of being a Soviet asset since 1929. Additionally, Einstein's involvement in the Manhattan Project and the development of the nuclear bomb may have left him with little interest in pursuing Reich's disruptive energy theories.
