Miller recounts his time as the Northwest Regional Director for Mankind Research Unlimited (MRU), where he investigated paranormal phenomena at China Lake and Groom Lake. He describes testing a mysterious artifact found in the Florida Everglades that was ten times harder than diamond. The object exhibited electrophoretic properties, allowing it to collapse under impact and slowly return to its original shape.

Miller details a face-to-face encounter with a seven-foot-tall "tall gray" entity named Kril at Level 8 of Groom Lake. Although his memory of the 20-minute meeting was largely suppressed, he describes the communication as emotional and pictorial rather than verbal. He worked with Alan Frey to investigate synthetic telepathy, though he believes the entity's method of communication was a more advanced instinctual exchange.
