Automation, Elon Musk and the Tesla Gigafactory
Technological advancement and automation are rapidly eroding middle-skill manufacturing jobs, as seen in the highly automated Tesla Gigafactory described by Elon Musk. While technology is designed to reduce human toil, the economic benefits currently accrue to a small percentage of the population while wages remain stagnant. UBI is proposed as a way to ensure humans benefit from the efficiency of machines rather than being displaced into low-wage service sectors.
