The Book of the Damned documents historical accounts of bizarre objects falling from the sky and other unexplainable phenomena. Notable cases include a worked stone disc discovered in France and the 1894 Vicksburg Turtle, which fell during a Mississippi hailstorm encased in ice. Additional reports mention unclassifiable clawed footmarks in Devonshire, England, and millions of self-luminous bodies observed via telescope by Reverend W. Reed.

A former British Army soldier reported that an elite unit shadowing Princess Diana in Devonshire in 1989 witnessed a large black cat prowling near her residence. The military allegedly covered up the sighting to avoid revealing the secret surveillance operation protecting the Princess from potential kidnapping. Redfern uses this as an example of how cryptid information is often suppressed as collateral to other national security secrets.
