Brooke Hines details her attendance at a secretive March 2017 conference in Death Valley organized by Daily Kos affiliates shortly after Donald Trump's inauguration. The event was framed as a way to escape Russian electronic surveillance while strategizing against perceived foreign interference. Hines characterizes the gathering as a "live-action roleplay" designed to instill paranoia and coordinate a specific narrative regarding Russiagate and the Democratic Party's media approach.

During the Death Valley meetings, organizers revealed a media strategy centered on using young celebrities to "catapult propaganda" through social media rather than traditional reporting. Brooke Hines identifies figures like Alyssa Milano and Rob Reiner as participants in this uniform messaging ecosystem. She further links influencer Nomiki Konst to Marcus Moulitsas of Daily Kos, alleging a long-term project to train celebrities in political messaging.
