Lyle Blackburn details the 1988 sightings of a humanoid reptilian creature in Bishopville, South Carolina, known as the Lizard Man. The case gained national attention following an alleged attack on 17-year-old Christopher Davis near Scape Ore Swamp and reports of vehicles being vandalized by an unknown animal. Blackburn describes his research process, which included interviewing the retired sheriff and reviewing original police documents.

Christopher Davis, the primary witness of the 1988 Lizard Man encounter, was shot and killed in his home in 2009. Blackburn discusses a "curse" associated with the case, noting that several witnesses died under violent or unusual circumstances. The intense media scrutiny and local mockery following the sightings reportedly had a detrimental effect on Davis's mental health and life trajectory.
