THC 113: Philip Farber | Understanding Invocation & Evocation Magick
Neuroscience, Executive Function and Default Mode Network
Responding to a listener request, Farber explains the bridge between the conscious and unconscious mind using modern neuroscience. He defines the "executive function" as the conscious director of the brain and the "default mode network" as the source of imagination and daydreaming. He references Carl Jung's definition of magic as the "conscious use of active imagination," essentially the deliberate engagement of the default mode network.
