Some paranormal odors appear to bypass physical biological limitations, as seen in a Michigan case where an anosmic ghost hunter perceived a pungent smell alongside a companion. Other instances, such as the smell of peppermint at Gettysburg, have mundane historical explanations related to masking the scent of battlefields. However, reports of entities changing their odor mid-encounter suggest a consciousness-based interaction rather than a purely physical one.
